The stall provides the unmistakable wok-hei with the koay teow stir fried to perfection topped up with good sized prawns and pork lard. Ah Khuan is the 3rd generation and the stall boasts a history of at least 50 years.

Assam Laksa @ Kek Seng Cafe

The original famous Penang Road laksa. From the heritage of 118 year old Kek Seng Cafe.
The dish is a harmonious orchestra of flavors - tamarind, fishy, umami, sweet, sour, spicy, fruity, gingerly with floral flavors topped with prawn paste.

Ah Soon Kor Rangoon Road Hokkien Prawn Mee was the undisputed number 1 before the proliferation of bloggers and the birth of pretenders to the throne. At the junction of Macalister Road/Rangoon Road.

Brothers Duck Koay Teow Th'ng @ Pulau Tikus Morning Market

Brothers Duck KTT is in its 5th decade and second generation serving the discerning palates of Penang-nites. Combining flat rice noodles with tender duck meat in a flavourful broth boiled over several hours. Often, it is served with spring onions and fried garlic.

Grandpa Ong Penang Chee Cheong Fun

Grandpa Ong’s Chee Cheong Fun (CCF) in Terengganu Road is amongst the few iconic names for this famed Penang interpretation of CCF. With a legacy of more than 35 years, the uniqueness of Penang CCF is in the mixture of 3 sauces - chilly, sweet sauce and heh koh (prawn paste). It can be served in its original rolled-up form or opened up. There is also an open secret that the sauces are mixed with a dash of peanut butter! So those with nut allergy beware!!

Tau Sar Pneah (TSP) is an amazing must have biscuit from Penang. It is made from mung bean paste fillings. There are quite a few TSP manufacturers in Penang and amongst the more well known is Cheong Kim Chuan (CKC), a manufacturer of Penang native products since 1937.

Nutmeg Juice

Nutmeg Juice is a unique drink made from nutmeg. While nutmeg is also grown in other places like the Caribbean and Indonesia, word has it that the Penangnites are the only people juicing the fruit!! Cheong Kim Chuan’s nutmeg juice is served at Penang BTS.
